operating a vehicle without insurance was behind the wheel for a collision that injured four people on Highway 401 Sunday evening, police say.
The crash, which the OPP said resulted in one person being ejected from the vehicle, happened at around 7:30 p.m. in the eastbound collector lanes of Highway 401 at Port Union Road. According to police, the vehicle’s driver struck an end treatment between the express and collector lanes.The collector lanes at Morningside Avenue as well as the on-ramps at Port Union and Kingston roads were closed as police investigated, but have since reopened.
G1 drivers do not get insurance as they have to be accompanied by a G licenced driver so whoever owned the car didn’t have insurance and they are responsible.
Without insurence is illegal, so having a permission to drive or having an experienced person with them is irrelevant
I don’t believe a G1 License holder is required to be insured. The owner of the vehicle is. That is unless it’s owned by the driver or the owner’s not insured. Based on the photo, it appears the passenger wasn’t wearing their seatbelt either. This all could have been avoided!
And our laws protects these people ? Designed for the wealthy so they can do this and get away with it. Should be automatic jail sentence for a year regardless if you have a job or not cause this is always the EXCUSE !

Just tragic, but before you take their license away for life which is easy to say - get 100% of the facts first. The headline didn’t say they weren’t with an experienced driver or took the car without permission. Accidents happen unfortunately
The headline is worded for grabs. No G1 driver is insured on a 400 series highway. G1 drivers also don't have to have insurance policies. They are covered as long as the car is and they are with a proper driver, and following all G1 conditions.
