A 60-year-old man from the US is accused of committing insurance fraud by getting someone to cut his legs off and blaming it on a tractor accident. Unfortunately for the legless fraudster, his story didn't add up, and further investigation by the Howell County Sheriff’s Office unveiled his idiotic scam. Police and medical workers dispatched to the man's farm were initially suspect after they found the man with his stumps neatly bandaged, and the legs nowhere to be found.
Further investigations revealed that "an individual from Florida had come to the man with an axe and allegedly hacked off his legs for a price". “It was a poorly executed plan. I have not seen anything quite like it,” Thompson was quoted as saying. Besides losing his legs, the man now faces charges of insurance fraud.
