Under the Coalition, billshortenmp says the average NDIS recipient is being shortchanged $13,000, and more than 77,000 Australians with disabilities are missing out on benefits of the scheme altogether.

Opposition leader Bill Shorten has pledged to overhaul the National Disability Insurance Scheme if his Labor Party is successful at the May 18 federal election.

Under the Coalition, Mr Shorten says the average NDIS recipient is being shortchanged $13,000, and more than 77,000 Australians with disabilities are missing out on benefits of the scheme altogether. The Labor leader has also promised to inject $2 billion into Victoria’s largest public transport project, the Melbourne Metro Tunnel, which is expected to create 7,000 new jobs.
